How do I choose the right face mask?

Selecting the right face mask starts with you.

Will you wear it?

• Does the mask need to look and feel good on? Will you continue to use the mask when needed, carry it with you and be ready to wear?

Will it fit your face?

• Will the mask fit properly, form a seal around the nose and mouth, stay in place with movement, and not leak in unfiltered air? If not, manufacturer claims about filtration may be misleading.

 
Will it work for you?

• Will it cause new problems – discomfort, irritation of the skin, fogging of glasses, and inhalation of off-gassing chemicals such as from neoprene used to make the product? You shouldn't have to breathe product chemicals to avoid pollution in the air!
• Is the mask made with high quality fabrics and materials and can easily be washed and reused; and not from materials intended for disposable or industrial use that have simply been colored or decorated?
